Mary Street
Mary Street
A complete rebuild from the existing Tasmanian Oak floorboards up, this project maintained the existing 105m2 footprint of a 1950’s beach shack and reimagined a space for coastal living.
A butterfly roof with raked ceilings, and large areas of glazing to take in sweeping views across the back of Seven Mile Beach to Kunanyi beyond, Mary Street captures the essence of mid-century architectural form with a modern twist.
The majority of the hardwood framing from the demolished structure was salvaged and repurposed as custom made furniture and interior fittings, in an exercise to reduce waste and save money on a tight budget.
